Mr. Willie Robert Moss, Sr., age 80, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at his home. He was the widower of the late Madelyn Carroll Moss, and we, his family, know without a doubt that his beloved “BABY” was waiting to greet him at the pearly gates.
Willie was born on August 30, 1945, in Greenwood County, a son of the late Willie Moss and Thelma Williams Moss.
He was a faithful member of Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where he served diligently as a trustee and as a dedicated van driver. Willie retired from Greenwood Matthew Mills after more than 40 years of service. A man of many talents, he was a self-taught auto mechanic, gardener, fisherman, and a true country man at heart. Above all, he loved his family and his Callison Community deeply.
He was preceded in death by his siblings: William Henry Moss, Eddie Moss, Lottie Lou Moss, Susie Mae Moss, Linda Moss, Truman Palmore, and Gladys Coleman.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted children, one daughter Valerie (Charlie) Dansby of McCormick, SC; two sons, Willie (Torritta) Moss, Jr., and Anthony Jermaine (Nicole) Moss, both of Greenwood, SC; and his pride and joy—his four grandchildren, Nicole Moss, Luarne Nelson, Courtney Cohen, and Anthony James “AJ” Moss.
Willie is also survived by his siblings: three brothers, James Thomas (Judy) Moss and John Albert (Donna) Moss, both of Troy, SC, and Clarence Moss of Greenwood, SC; two sisters, Brenda Downs of Greenwood, SC, and Judy (Barry) Burton of Ninety-Six, SC. He also leaves behind three sisters-in-law Dorothy Moss, Doris Kemp and Annie Marie Roundtree; three devoted nephews Tyrone Moss, Norman Moss, and Stanley Moss; two special friends, Register Nicholson and Hugh Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rodney Currie presiding and Rev. Richard Pickering officiating. Interment will follow in the Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Moss will lie in state from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm on Monday, September 15, 2025, in the Church.
Public viewing will be held from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the funeral home.
The family is at the home, 5016 Callison Hwy, Troy, SC 29848.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Moss family.
