William Clyde Richardson, 88, affectionately known as Willie, husband of Jessie Lee Richardson, resident of 103 Gregg Court, Hodges, transitioned into eternal peace on April 21, 2024, at his residence. He was born to the parentage of the late Morgan Richardson and Macie Elizabeth Calhoun Richardson on March 8, 1936, in Elberton, GA.
He faithfully served as a Trustee for many years at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and worked in the Transportation Department for the City of Greenwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Johnnie M. Richardson, Homer Richardson, Eliza Bell Perkins, and Lucille Ramey.
In addition to his lovely wife of 66 years and of the home, Mr. Richardson leaves to cherish his memory: three sons: Willie Eddie Richardson of Greenwood, SC, James Albert Richardson of Greenwood, SC and Luther Allen Richardson, Sr. of the home; two daughters, Alberta Brown (Marvin) and Macie Yarbough (Bernard) of Hodges, SC; a sister, Margie Tollie of Winston Salem, NC; 24 grandchildren, 4 reared in the home: Daniel Bernard Richardson, LaCursha Shunta Richardson, Terrance La’Cosate Leverett and Lance Leon Richardson; 48 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; 2 lifelong friends, James Tolbert and Nate Patterson; a special family friend, Gail Keller; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Richardson will be placed in the church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Friday, April 26, 2024, in the Percival-Tompkins Chapel.
