Mr. William Sanders, Jr. transitioned peacefully on March 30, 2026, in McCormick, SC. He was born on May 28, 1967, in Greenwood, SC to his mother, the late Colette P. Martin, and his father, the late Williams Sanders, Sr.
William attended the Whitten Center Day programs before transitioning to Personal Care Home/The Burton Center.
He was a sweet person who loved music, had a great sense of humor, laughed a lot as a child, and gave great hugs. William was born disabled--having to have 19 surgeries by the time he was 6 months old. He was born before advanced medicine was available and the doctors, at that time, had given him a life expectancy of 11 years of age. Thanks to the love and care for William he lived to see 58 years of life. Thanks to the great people like Kelly Singleton and other loving members at the Burton Center in Greenwood for over 25 years of service and McCormick Post Acute Nursing Home for taking care of him and giving him daily care until his condition took a turn and William got his wings; now his spirit is free to be with God.
He is survived by: his siblings, Calandra and Larry Bell, Kevin Sanders of Greenwood, and Valeria and Rene Cruz of Atlanta, GA; nine nieces and nephews, Qytravious Sanders, Corinthian & Kevin Crite, Sherakee Settles, Vyetreon & Leroy Saunders, Kashandra & Yevette Lacy, Alasya Carroll, Deion Sanders, Khadijah Sanders, Niyoka Sanders; and a host of great nephews, nieces and cousins.
The family asks that you would join in his Memorial Celebration to be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Burton Center in Greewood with a reception to following immediatley after the service. The family is at their respective homes.
Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Sanders family.
