Ms. Verdell Wilson went to be home with the Lord on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Harlem Hospital Center. Verdell was born February 24, 1926, to the parentage of the late James and Mamie Jabber in Ninety Six, South Carolina.
After graduating high school she and the late Brady Hill welcomed their beloved daughter, Linda, into the world on August 9, 1945. Verdell moved her family to New York City where she would live out her life.
Verdell was an avid reader of the Bible and a woman of great faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Mamie Jabber; her daughter, Linda Washington; brothers: Pink Josh "PJ" Jabber, Clarence Jabber, Sr. and Nathaniel Jabber; sisters: Mille Ruth Gray and Mary Elizabeth Jabber-Skinner.
Verdell leaves to cherish her memories a sister, Bobbie Gray; grandchildren: Stephanie and David Washington; great-grandchildren: Ethan and Spencer Washington; nieces and nephews: Michael Gray, Mark Gray and Precilla Gray (who affectionately called her "Aunt Puddin"); and a sister-in-law, Gladys Jabber, along with many more cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Verdell will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Rock Baptist Church (307 Pleasant Rock Church Rd, Ninety Six, SC 29666). There will be no public viewing.
