Thelma Carter Obituary

The final sunset for Thelma “Ann” Sanders Carter, 70 was September 22,2023 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC.  Her sunrise was on 11 August 1953 to her late parents David Cantlow and Ida Sanders Edwards in Greenwood, SC.  She was the youngest of six siblings.  She attended Brewer High School.  She was certified and employed as a Nursing Assistant National Health Care ,Wesley Common Nursing Facility.  She worked as a Spinner Greenwood Mills. She was member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church. She was a lead singer for the MCBC Usher Board.  She spent time cooking for others, especially those in the neighborhood and helping with healthcare issues from S.C Witness program. She was also known for her jokes and contagious laughs. If you were in her presence, you would find yourself laughing uncontrollably.

 

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, James Carter Jr, daughter: Vanetta Ann Carter, son: James “Chubb” Carter III, two (2) brothers: Marion Sanders and Nathaniel “Botie” Sanders

Four (4) Uncles & Three (3) Aunts: Tommie R. Boozer, Odell & Dorothy Sanders, Willie & Grace Sanders, Joe & Joyce Boozer, one (1) sister-in-law: Louise Simpkins, two (2) brother-in laws: James Coleman & Thomas Simpkins

She is survived by her devoted son, Johnny Carter, seven (7) grandchildren: Jashiema Carter, Jakirah Carter, Jemarion Carter, Bryson Childs of Greenwood, SC; James Shondrel Graham of Bishopville, SC;  Kadon and Jadon Sorrow, four (4) great grandchildren: Caison Kelley, A’riyah Kelly, Xavier Sibert of Greenwood, SC and Sapphire Meyers.  Two (2) brothers: James Warren (Phyllis) Sanders,  David June Sanders.  Two Sisters: Edith (Charles) Childs and Deniece Shelman of Abbeville, SC. Two (2) sisters-in-laws:  Bobble Jean Donald, Helen (Late Charles) Coleman of Greenwood, SC.

Two (2) Brother-in-laws: Robert Lee “Lillie” Carter of Greenville, SC and Andrew “Denise“ Carter.

One surviving Great Aunt, Thelma K. Boozer and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
