Solomon Holloway, age 77, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Magnolia Manor in Greenwood, S.C. He was the sixth child of ten born to the late Susie Anna and A.P. Holloway.
He grew up on a farm and eventually went to work as a Logger. After several years, he left the logging business and was employed with the Durst Plant of Greenwood Mills for many years. Being around his family was great joy to him and he especially loved to watch the little ones at play.
He recently accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and expressed a desire to go to Heaven when he leaves this world.
He is preceded in death by his five brothers: Willie Thomas, Lawrence, Jim, George and Calvin Holloway; sister, Laura H. Stevens; and two sisters-in-law: Dorothy B. and Alfredia A. Holloway.
He leaves to cherish his memories his two sisters: Mattie (Walter) Gaskin and Luevenia Holloway of Greenwood, SC; brother, Charlie (Gloria) Holloway of Callison, SC; two sisters-in-law: Sadie W. Holloway of Greenwood, SC and Dorothy Holloway of Bronx, NY; two aunts: Ruby Harling and Anna Ross; one uncle, James (Gayle) Scott all of Greenwood, SC; and a host of other relatives and friends who miss him dearly.
Services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at Bailey Bethel AME Church with Rev. Annette Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at Noon. Public viewing will be from 1-6 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
