Ms. Shirley “Shell” Allen, of 127 Russell Street, died November 9, 2022 at her home. She was born in Edgefield County November 22, 1945, a daughter of the late Nathaniel Freeman and Eula Mae Fuller Holloway Freeman. She attended Edgefield County Public Schools. She joined Springfield Baptist Church at an early age and was a faithful member who served the Gospel Chorus. She retired from Durst Plant (Greenwood Mills). She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dale Baylor and a stepson, Barron Gray.
She leaves to cherish her memory:one son, Orlando Monfredi (Whitney) Allen of Greenwood; three daughters, Doris Freeman and Tiffery (Franklin) Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, Melinda (Kendrell) Garner of Simpsonvillie, SC; a stepdaughter, Brenda (Anthony) Gary of Fountain Inn; one adopted brother, Bishop Emmanuel Spearman of Hodges; fourteen grandchildren; nine grandchildren were reared in the home, Lekeista (Randy) Chiles, Erica Baylor, and Jeleshia Freeman of Charlotte, NC., Brandon Freeman of Belgium; Charvis Partlow of Bronx, NY, Devan Partlow of Greer, Devonte Partlow, Kaeden Allen and Jhamir Allen of Greenwood.; Tyson Dunlap, Jordan Morton and Aubrey Allen of Simpsonville, SC, LaMari (Jason) Eure and Sydney Cunningham of Charlotte, NC, eight great-grandchildren; 2 reared in the home, Jaliyah Baylor, Keondre Brown, and Ari Chiles of Charlotte, NC., Alexia and Imani Freeman of Belgium, Brandon Freeman (Nadine) of Belgium, Justice Partlow of Greenwood, Lyric and Londynn Partlow of Phoenix, AZ.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 til 5:00 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Percival-Tompkins Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, November 14, 2022, at Springfield Baptist Church. Percival-Tompkins is honored to serve the Allen family.
