Sarah Ouzts peacefully departed this life on January 27, 2026. She was born on June 7, 1931, to the late Grover and Queenella Anderson.
Sarah was the beloved wife of the late J.D. Ouzts and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and servant to her church and community. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Ouzts; her daughters, Carolyn Ouzts Robinson and Venita Ouzts-Simpson; her brother, Earl Anderson; and her parents, Grover and Queenella Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Patricia Dianne Lake (Ernest Lake); her grandchildren, Alexis Simpson McGee (Michael McGee) and Devin Simpson; her sister, Flora Grant; her beloved God family, Jade Fisher Perkins, Ashlei Fisher, and Adyn Keller; her adopted granddaughter Crystal Lake Akinnuoye along with a host of nieces, nephews, and adopted grandchildren.
Sarah was a faithful and active member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Her service to the church was extensive and heartfelt, as she served as a deaconess, a member of the Widow and Widower Ministry, the Missionary Ministry, the choir, and as a revered Mother of the Church. Her commitment to her faith was evident in both her words and her actions.
Beyond the church walls, Sarah was deeply involved in her community, living out her faith through service and care for others. She was a proud member of the Martin Luther King Choir and demonstrated her compassion through acts of service, including delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need. Known for her warmth, wisdom, and nurturing spirit, she was affectionately called “Grandma” by many young people in her community, a title she carried with grace and love. Sarah retired from Parke-Davis after years of dedicated service, and in every role she held.
Sarah Ouzts will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and the countless lives she touched through her service, love, and devotion to family and community..
Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Morris Chapel Baptist Church at 12:00 pm.
Mrs. Ouzts will lie in state at the Church and be able to be viewed from 11:00 am until Noon.
The family is at the home, 232 Beadle Avenue, Greenwood, SC.
