Rosa Lee Milledge, 87, of Greenwood, South Carolina, found her final resting place on December 24, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Roosevelt Milledge.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a member of the Trustee Board, Pastor's Aide Ministry, and the Quarter Century Ministry. She also was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the Renaissance Bridge Club.
Mrs. Milledge was a lifelong educator in Greenwood School District # 50, having taught at Brewer High School and Southside Junior High School in Physical Education. She also taught at Martha Schofield High School in Aiken, SC and Clearview High School in Easley, SC as a Science Teacher.
She concluded her tenure in education with the Adult Education Program at Genesis Education Center in Greenwood.
Through her work with Greenwood’s youth, she touched too many lives to count.
Mrs. Milledge has received numerous Recognitions and Awards to include Southside Jr. High School Teacher of the Year, Adult Education Hall of Fame 2007, Who’s Who Among American Teachers in 1994, Life member of BHSNAA, Inducted into the BHSNAA in September of 2018, and Recognition from the SC State House of Representatives for Teaching Career in 2016.
Surviving are two daughters: Lisha ( Vermond Jr.) Walker of Douglasville, GA, Toi (Kenneth) Lay of Jacksonville, FL; one step daughter, Annelenne Wageman (Heinz) of Warburg, Germany; five grandchildren: Vermond Walker III of Douglasville, GA, Alexa Rose Walker of Astoria, NY, Tylen Corbertt Walker of Nashville, TN, Carl Jasper Wageman of Cologne, Germany and Lovis Wageman of Warburg, Germany; two cousins, Genell Edney Graham of Aiken, SC and Rodney Bass of Stamford, CT; along with a host of relatives and friends to cherish her precious memories.
Services for Rosa Lee Milledge will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Quincy Baylor officiating. Interment will follow in Jessamine Memorial Gardens located at 625 Allison Street, Aiken, SC 29801. Mrs. Milledge will lay in state from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2025, in the church. Public viewing will be from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the funeral home.
