Rosa Baylor Obituary

On Thursday, October 23, 2025, God saw that the road was getting tough, the hills were hard to climb, so He gently closed her eyes, and whispered, “Peace Be Thine.” Rosa, affectionately known as “Rose,” was the wife of the late James T. Baylor.  She was the daughter of the late Anna Triplin (Johnny) and the late Roosevelt Carroll. Sr.

At an early age, Rose was baptized at Old Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she was an active member, participating in Sunday School and serving on the Usher Board.

Rosa was educated in the Greenwood Public School System and graduated from Brewer High School in 1969. She also studied nursing assistance and office management at Piedmont Technical College. After Rosa married James, his job relocated their family to Florida and Pennsylvania.  When Rosa and her family returned to South Carolina, they resided in Columbia.  While living in Columbia, she attended Zion Baptist Church.

Rosa was formerly employed by Monsanto, Emerald Gardens Assisted Living, and retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections in Columbia, SC.  She was always willing to lend a hand and help others.  She loved children and found joy working in the school system.  Rosa also spent time working with Habitat for Humanity. She was the one her family could count on; Rose was a caregiver to her loved ones and was always willing to help others in any way she could.

Rosa was preceded in death by her daughter, Kevis LaShawn Baylor, a brother, Roosevelt Carroll, Jr., father and mother-in-law, Rev. George T. and Essie M. Baylor, two brothers-in-law, Henry L. Baylor, and George A. Baylor
