Reverend R.C. Holloway, 79, transitioned into eternal peace on April 8, 2024. Reverend Holloway, a native of Laurens County, South Carolina, was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Waterloo, South Carolina. He was married to the late Derotha Tompkins Holloway, and they made their home in McCormick, South Carolina.
Reverend Holloway, a retired educator, was employed in the public schools of: Laurens County (SC), McCormick County (SC), Jefferson County (GA), and Lincoln County (GA). He served as Assistant Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church (Plum Branch, SC) and Bethany Baptist Church (McCormick, SC). Reverend Holloway dutifully served as pastor of First Baptist Church (Lincolnton, GA), Rock Hill Baptist Church (Saluda, SC), and Shaws Creek Baptist Church (Trenton, SC). A strong advocate for community and education, he was active in leadership roles in numerous civic, and religious, organizations in Georgia and South Carolina.
Survivors include: his daughter, Sharon D. Holloway, Augusta, GA; his brother, George (Colletta) Holloway, Waterloo, SC; his brother-in-law raised as his son, Larry (Melanie) Tompkins, Greenwood, SC; his niece raised as his daughter, Sallie M. Tompkins, Atlanta, GA; his nieces, Wanda (John) Jones, Concord, NC; and Kathy Moore (Jimmy) Easley SC; his nephew, George H. Holloway, West columbia, SC; his brothers-in-law, James (Carolyn) Tompkins, Plum Branch, SC, and James (the late Jessie M.) Price, Plum Branch, SC; two nieces raised as his precious granddaughters, Kiara and Briana Tompkins (North Carolina); and his closest cousin, Nancy Cunningham (Greenwood, SC). He also leaves a host of family, friends, and caregivers who will forever treasure his memory.
Public viewing will be held from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 12, 2024, in the Percival-Tompkins Chapel. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the New Hope Baptist Church, 1680 New Hope Road, Plum Branch, SC., at which time Reverend Holloway will also be open for viewing. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 11:00 am at New Hope Baptist Church in Plum Branch. Reverend Holloway will be placed in the church at 10:00 am.
