Paul Wiley Reid, 85, resident of 1401 Phoenix Place Apt 3H, entered into eternal rest on September 8, 2024, at Self Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Greenwood County on July 13, 1938, a son of the late Archie Reid and Mary Mathis Reid. He was a former member of Pine Grove AME Church and loyal employee of Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home and also Blyth Funeral Home for many years.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Beatrice; two brothers, Archie Reid and Charlie Reid; and two sisters, Mary Lou Reid and Elizabeth Reid.
He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Surviving are: his special friend and companion, Catherine Curenton, of the home; his nieces: Hazel Baylor, Sherneke Baylor, Angela R. White (Arthur), LeShay Reid, and LaShay Reid; his nephews: Archie Reid, John Reid (Cassandra), and Charlie Chambers; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The “YOUNG BOY,” as he called himself, will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at Noon on Monday, September 16, 2024, in the Percival-Tompkins Chapel with Bishop Emanuel Spearman officiating.
Burial will follow in Evening Star Cemetery.
Public viewing will be held form 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at the funeral home.
