Paul Mathis 92, of 607 Waller Road, Ninety-SC widower of Ollie Mae Fisher Mathis entered into eternal rest on August 15, 2024 at Self Regional Medical Center. He was born in Greenwood County October 18, 1931 a son of the late David Paul Mathis and Martha Andrews.
He was a faithful member of Youngs Chapel Baptist Church until his health failed where he also served on the Usher Board. He was a member of the Sons of Aid Society and retired from Greenwood Mills where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Mary Ruth Louden, Martha Tanksley, Sarah Ida Ryans, Aurelia Mathis, Ella Lee Byrd, Tommy Lee Mathis, Willie Mathis and a grandchild, Shalonda Chiles.
He leaves to cherish his memory are four sons, Robert Chiles of Greenwood, Dennis (Sally) Chiles of Laurel Maryland, Richard Chiles of the home and Everett Mathis of Dallas, TX; four daughters, Marilynn Joyce Grier of Greenwood, Sheila Mathis of the home, Vonda (Anthony) Coates and Denise (Allen) Carroll of Greenwood, one niece and nephew reared in the home, Bettye Holloway of Greenwood and Wendell Byrd of Asheville, NC; one sister-in-law, Janie Pearl Fisher of Greenwood, 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 1 gg grandchild and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at Youngs Chapel Baptist Church with Minister Larry Fisher Officiating and Rev. Michael Smith Presiding.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 1-6 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will grandsons and nephews.
Flower Bearers will be granddaughters and nieces
Mr. Mathis will be placed in church for viewing from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday
