Mamie Lee Stevenson

Mamie Lee Stevenson, 88, formerly of Newark, NJ, entered into eternal rest on October 10, 2025.

She was born in Greenwood, South Carolina on October 3,1937, a daughter of the late Henry Stevens and Elizabeth Hentz Stevens.

She made her home in Newark, NJ for 57 years where she was employed with Hospital System.

She was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she was a former Usher, member of the Sr. Choir, member of the Missionary Society and TBC Backpack Ministry.

Mamie also helped the with kitchen ministry and anywhere she was needed.

She was preceded in death by: her children, Donna M. Stevenson Gilliam, Ellen A. Mims, Shirley H. Stith, David A. Stevenson and Douglas Stevenson; her siblings, Henry Stevens, Roscoe Stevens, Willie Stevens, Johnnie Mae Partlow, Frances Stevens and Rachel Stevenson Anderson.

She was the last survivor of her siblings.

Her memories will be cherished by: her grandchildren, Lateshia Cartledge (Terrence) of Greenwood, SC, Kenya Laymon (Bernard) of Greenwood, SC and Calvin L. Stith of Jersey City, NJ; a host of great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Quincy Baylor officiating.

Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Stevenson will lie in state at Tabernacle Baptist Church from 10:30 am until the service hour on Friday.

Public viewing will be from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Thursday in the Percival-Tompkins Funeral Home Chapel.

The family is at the home her granddaughter, Lateshia Cartledge, 602 Pascal Drive, Greenwood, SC, and will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Wednesday and Thursday.
