Linda "Cookie" Chamberlain 73, of 115 Redwood Street entered into eternal rest on October 31, 2023 at her home. She was born in Greenwood County September 30, 1950 a daughter of the late Wallace Payne and Lela Robinson Payne.
She was a graduate Brewer High School Class of 1968 and SC State University class of 1972 with a degree in Business Education. She was a faithful member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church where she served as former Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher and worked with Food Ministry for many years. She was also a member of Widows and Widowers Ministry. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
She was an avid Consignment shopper and loved cooking and having her family to love on.
She was preceded in death by a son Frederick Jennings and a sister, Ethel Payne Holmes.
Surviving is her daughter Portia Briggs (Patrick) of Greenwood; one sister, Deborah Pearson (Fred) of Greenville, SC; a granddaughter, Deanna Boyles of Greenwood; two grandsons, Dalen and Donovan Boyles of the home; two gg granddaughters, Imani Brown and Tamia Boyles; a special cousin, Larry Burton(Veronica) of Columbia, SC; a niece, Lane Holmes of Atlanta, GA; 2 nephews, Fred Pearson III and William Pearson of Greenville, SC a special daughter in love, Shakima Boyd of Greenwood; bonus grandchildren, Joshlyn and Kingston; her special confidant and travel partner, Rev. David Connor of Greenwood and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Noon Monday, November 6, 2023 at Morris Chapel Baptist Church with Bishop Oliver T McCray, Jr officiating. Burial will be in Evening Star Cemetery." Ms. Cookie" as she was affectionally known will be placed in the church at 11:00AM
