Lillie Ruth (Williams) Jones

Our Beloved Mother Mrs. Lillie Ruth Williams Jones, age 84, of 108 Pelzer Street, Greenwood SC transitioned into eternal rest on April 18, 2025; at her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Born in Callison, SC on June 28, 1940, to the late Eddie Mae Palmore Williams and the late Wallace Williams Sr.

Lillie Ruth was educated in the public schools of Greenwood County and was a faithful member of Bailey Bethel AME Church until her health declined.

She was a member of the Gospel Chorus, The Missionary Society, The Usher Board, and the Lay Organization.

Lillie Ruth was a formal employee of Carolina Pride, Greenwood Nintex and a former textile employee of Greenwood Mills.

Lillie Ruth is proceeded in death by her husband Joe Louis Jones, a grandson Jyron M. Williams, a sister Barbara Jean Williams, a brother Wallace Williams Jr. and  her mother-in-law Carrie Lou Jones.

Lillie Ruth leaves to cherish fond and loving memories six daughters: Barbara A. (Rev. Carroll Jr.) Wells, Julia M. (James O) Williams , Minister Shela Y. (Richard) Bryant , Rev Annette Edwards, Wanda D. (Rev. Derrick) Stewart , and Debbie M. White; four sons, Joe N. Williams, Anthony (Vanessa) Williams , Melvin (Crystal) Williams, Rev. Darren L. (Antanisha) Jones, all of Greenwood South Carolina; twenty-five Grandchildren; sixty-two great grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sadie L. Holloway, Nathlean V. (Oscar Henry) Jones; two brothers Robert L. (Martha) Williams, and Frank (Janie) Rapp, all of Greenwood SC; and a loving sister-in-law Ms. Dorothy Butler of Long Island City, NY.

Lillie Ruth is deeply mourned by numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and  cherished friends.

Celebration of life services will be held on 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Springfield Baptist Church, Edgefield, SC with Rev. Darren Jones officiating.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing will from from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Jones will lay in state from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church.
