Joseph Marnie Curry, lovingly known as Joe, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, in Greenwood, South Carolina at the age of 56.
Joe was born on January 21, 1969, in Washington, D.C., to the late Dorothy Raduazo and Daryl E. Curry. He was a proud graduate of Bladensburg High School, where he played football and studied French, both interests inherited by his son, Daryl L. Curry. Joe was known for his hardworking nature, kind heart, sharp humor, and deep love for storytelling. Raised in a military household, he carried himself with respect and warmth — always the first to offer a “yes ma’am” or “no sir” with sincerity. His quiet charm and genuine presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
A man of simple joys, Joe found happiness in a good routine, soulful music from Prince and Bob Marley, hearty soul food, and (somewhat overcooked) barbecue. He spent much of his time enjoying his work in construction, working on his recipes, sharing laughs with friends, and enjoying life’s small moments with heart and humor. Joe loved his family immensely and was his happiest when surrounded by loved ones and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Raduazo, and his sister Angelique Curry (Daniel Callahan). He leaves to cherish his memories; son, Daryl L. Curry (Brittany); his unborn grandchild, a baby girl due in September of 2025; father, Daryl E. Curry (Connie); stepfather Alem Teklemariam; grandmother, Juliette Curry; siblings, Daniel Teklemariam (Latoya), Samuel Teklemariam, Sierra Curry, and Xavier Curry; girlfriend, Carroll Parks and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, July 18th at 6:00 p.m. at Solid Rock Church (5401 Good Luck Rd, Riverdale, MD 20737). All who knew and loved him are welcome to join in remembering his life and legacy.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Joe by sharing a kind memory, making someone smile, or simply enjoying a good plate of barbecue in his memory. We thank each of you for your prayers, calls, cards and numerous acts of kindness which you have extended to our family. All of your support means the world to us and we are truly grateful.
Percival tompkins Funeral Home is honored to serve the Curry family.
