Mr. Johnny Lights, 98, of 632 Grier Street, husband of Mattie L. Lights, entered into eternal rest on May 28, 2025, at his home. He was raised in the home of Mr. Squire Williams, Sr. and Lily B. Williams.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Mrs. Diane Moss; and one son, Norris Lights.
Surviving are his: beloved wife, Mattie Lights; three sons: Jonathan (Nancy) Lights, James (Minnie) Lights and Shelton Lights; six daughters: Mrs. Margie Williams of Troy, SC, Mrs. Evine (Willie) Legron of Bradley, SC, Diane Carroll, Rosa Lee Carroll, Gloria Jean Carroll and Gladys Beatrice Moss all of Greenwood, SC; 30 grandchildren; 69 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends to cherish his memories.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Flint Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Williams officiating and Rev. Diedra Higgins presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Lights will lay in state from Noon until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church. Public viewing will be from 1:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, in the Percival-Tompkins Chapel. The family is at the home.
