Henry Hill, 84, of Kinston, NC, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026, at the North Carolina Veterans Home in Kinston, North Carolina. He was born in Greenwood County on February 8, 1942, a son of the late Claude Hill and Onnie Bell Hill.
He attended Greenwood County Public Schools and was a graduate of Brewer High School.
Henry was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army.
Henry was employed with the New York Department of Sanitation from which he retired after years of dedicated service. After retirement he relocated to Greenville, North Carolina where he enjoyed retirement for years surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Henry courageously battled dementia and End-Stage Renal Disease(ESRD) for several years.
Despite his health challenges, he remained resilient and strong!!!
He leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Monique Parker (Darren) of Kinston, NC; a son, Maurice Hill (Anita), of LaGrange, GA; two brothers, Willie Joe Hill and Howard Hill (Lois); three sisters, Elaine Hill, Aundrea Hill and Ella M Smith (Gerald); 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Sara B. Tompkins, Claudia B. Benjamin and Gertrude Hill Callahan.
His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Graveside services with viewing and Military Rites will he held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at their respective homes.
