Gregory Bernard Syrkett, Sr. entered into eternal rest at home on January 29, 2025. Affectionally known as "Syrk" or just "Bernard", he was sure to bring a smile to all who he encountered. Bernard was born on September 13, 1966, he was the fourth child from the union of the late Joe and Mary Syrkett. He was the beloved brother of his sisters: Martha (Luther) Thomas, Joann (Bobby) Hurley, Jacqueline (Willie) Graham; and a younger brother, Orlando Syrkett.
Upon graduating high school, Bernard enlisted into the U.S. Navy. After years in the Navy, he spent many years working in manufacturing. On his off days, Bernard spent his time surrounded by family and friends or watching his Cowboys play during football season.
In addition to his siblings, Bernard is survived by five children: sons, Gregory (Shawanda) Syrkett Jr. and Jarvon Smith, both of Greenwood, SC, and Camron Winn, Sr. of Chester, Virginia; daughters, Aneisha (Kenterrious) Davis of Simpsonville, SC, and Image Tolbert of Greenwood, SC. He was a grandfather of ten: five grandsons, Gregory III, Bryson, Aiden, Khylan, and Camron, Jr.; five granddaughters, Kaelynn, Gabby, Kobi, Carmyne, and Camilla; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Percival-Tompkins with Rev. Otis Cunningham officiating.
Public viewing will be on Monday, February 3, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm at Percival-Tompkins.
The family will receive guests at the home of his sister, Jacqueline Graham, located at 312 Alexander Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.
