Essie Lee Dye, 82, widow of Wiley Dye, Jr., entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2026, at Self Regional Healthcare.
She was born in Greenwood County on October 29, 1943, a daughter of Charlie Coleman and Alice Moore Coleman.
She was a member of Second Damascus Church where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Ushers Ministry. She retired from Greenwood Packing (Carolina Pride) after 40 years of service. She was a dedicated and faithful volunteer at the Piedmont Agency on Aging and member of AARP.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Dye and Calvin Dye; a grandson, Theus D. Coleman; and two siblings, Mozelle Coats and Alice Shaw.
Surviving to cherish her memory are: a son, Elder Stanley Dye, of Greenwood; four daughters, Deborah Coleman Smith of the home, Beverly King (Theodore) of Greenwood, Lisa Dye of Aiken, SC and Teshanna Cunningham (Terry) of Greenwood; two brothers, Marion Coleman and Larry Coleman( Dorothy), of Greenwood; two sisters in law, Corena Harling of Hodges and Jennie Vee Faucette of Greenwood; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Second Damascus Baptist Church with Rev. Leroy Robertson officiating.
Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Flower bearers will be her nieces.
Mrs. Dye will lie in state from Noon until 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the Church.
Public Viewing will be from 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Funeral Home.
