Essie Lee Dye 82, of widow of Wiley Dye, Jr entered into eternal rest on January 15, 2026 at Self Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Greenwood County October 29, 1943 a daughter of Charlie Coleman and Alice Moore Coleman.
She was a member of Second Damascus Church where she was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Ushers Ministry. She was retired from Greenwood Packing Plant after 40 years of service. She was a dedicated and faithful volunteer at the Piedmont Agency on Aging and member of AARP.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Anthony Dye and Calvin Dye; a grandson, Theus D. Coleman, two siblings Mozelle Coats and Alice Shaw.
Surviving to cherish her memory is a son, Elder Stanley Dye of Greenwood; four daughters, Deborah D Smith of the home, Beverly King (Theodore) of Greenwood, Lisa Dye of Aiken, SC and Teshanna Cunningham (Terry) of Greenwood; two brothers, Marion Coleman and Larry Coleman( Dorothy) of Greenwood; Corena Harling of Hodges and Jennie Vee Faucette of Greenwood; 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 gg grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews’ other relatives and friends.
Services will be held 1 PM Thursday, January 22, 2026 a Second Damascus Baptist Church with Rev Leroy Robertson officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. Flower bearers will be nieces.
Mrs. Dye will lie in state from Noon until 1 pm on Thursday.
Public viewing will be from 1pm until 5 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
