Mr. Clarence Allen Evans, Jr., 88, of Hodges, SC departed this life on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, SC.

He was born January 5, 1935 in Greenwood County to the late Clarence Allen Evans, Sr. and Nezzie T. Waller Evans.

Clarence was educated in the public schools of Greenwood County.  He was a graduate of Emma Maddox High School.  He served in the U. S. Army and retired from A & P Shop Well as a Union Representative.

He was predeceased by his father, Clarence, Sr. and mother, Nezzie, also six sisters, Dorothy Latimore, Gladys E. Anderson, Hazel Hayden, Peggie Richardson, Jenell Evans and Geraldine E. Johnson.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Sherman; a son, Glenn Evans; two brothers, Thomas (Sandra) Evans of North Carolina and John (Joyce) Evans of California; three sisters, Rowena Ligon of Hodges, SC, Sylvia Pearson of Philadelphia, PA and Patricia E. (Leon) Williams of Columbia, SC; six grandchildren, one great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, starting at 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM.

Services for Mr. Evans will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 10:30 AM at City of Prayer and Faith Ministries, 103 Cromer Road, Hodges, SC 29653 with Elder Devon Wilson officiating.  The body will be placed in the church at 9:30 AM.  Burial will follow immediate afterwards in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
