Charles Leroy Carter, 81, of 114 Eve Street (Greenwood, SC), widower of Daisy Williams Robinson Carter, entered into eternal rest on May 2, 2025, in Simpsonville, SC.
He was born in Greenwood County on October 15, 1943, a son on the late Walter Carter and Alberta Quarles Carter.
He was a member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served as a faithful Trustee and member of the Gospel Chorus.
He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy and was a member of the MLK Choir for many years.
Surviving to cherish his memory are: his daughters, Toi Young (Mark) and Stephanie Fisher (Stanley) of Simpsonville, SC; two sons, Glenn Payne (Michelle) of Greenwood, SC and Maurice Williams of San Antonio, TX; a brother, John Carter of Greenwood, SC; five grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Epworth, SC with Rev. Danny R. Webb officiating.
Mr. Carter will lie in state at the Church from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.
Public viewing will be held from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm and the family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the funeral home on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
