Carrie (Mae) Anderson Smith, 87, of 3517 Ridge Road, Hodges, SC, widow of James C. Smith, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born April 16, 1937, a daughter of the late Charles Anderson, Sr. and Lou Ella Sheard.
Carrie was one of a kind. She touched the hearts of everyone who crossed her path. One thing for sure, she was going to make you laugh, because there was no telling what she might say. But it was all out of pure love. Her caring for people in general was her brightness. And the love she had for her family . . . there was no need to explain.
She attended Brewer High School in her early age. After working 30 years at Bayberry Inn she was able to retire.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, James C Smith; her son, Johnny Andrews, Jr.; 3 grandchildren: Jordon Blaylock Smith, Jailyn Dumari Morton and Ambria C’ona Smith; four brothers: John Henry Sheard, Landon Lee, Charles Anderson, Jr. and Harold Anderson; two sisters, Pearl Anderson and Minnie Anderson.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Calvin (Coretta) Smith of Williston, SC and Micheal (Chantelle) Smith of Greenwood; one daughter, Katrina Smith, of the home; three sisters: Louise Foster of Coronaca, SC, Rosa Anderson and Mamie Garrett of Hodges, SC; a sister-in-law, Betty Anderson, of Hodges, SC; 11 grandchildren: four raised in the home, Jazzalyn Morton, Shalaye Andrews, Jonathan Morton, Jr. and Michael Bailey, Jr.; 13 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Oakbrook Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Butler Officiating and Rev. Carlton Klugh assisting.
