Carrie Harrison Obituary

Carrie Elizabeth Harrison, 88, a resident of Magnolia Manor, quietly entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2024, at her residence.

She was born in Plum Branch, SC on September 28, 1935, to the late Thomas Harrison, Sr. and Sallie Bennett Harrison.

She joined New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in McCormick, SC at an early age, and she served there faithfully until her health declined. She served as secretary of the Ushers Ministry, a member of the Culinary Ministry, and the church choir. She was a charter member of the Greenwood Area MLK Mass Choir and she sung with them for many years.

Carrie began her public education by attending New Hope School and after graduation she furthered her education by attending Mims High School where she graduated from in 1954.

She retired from McCormick Mills and her favorite pastimes were playing the piano, cooking and spending time with family and friends. She also served as the neighborhood beautician.

She was preceded in death by her: parents; 5 sisters: Fannie Mae Tompkins, Margie Deas, Annie Tompkins, Louvenia Prince and Juanita Givens; and 3 brothers: James Harrison, Thomas Harrison, Jr., and Louis Harrison.

Her love will forever be cherished in the lives of her God-daughters: Linda Cartledge (Arthur) of Greenwood, SC and Dr. Sharon Givens of Columbia, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all she touched.

Funeral Services will be held at Noon on Friday, April 19, 2024, at New Hope Baptist Church, Plum Branch, SC with Rev. Michael Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
