Beatrice “Bea” Morgan Johnson, age 79, of 745 Holloway Avenue, transitioned into heaven on December 22, 2022, at her home. She was born in Greenwood County on May 2, 1943, a daughter of the late Rev. Isaac Henry Morgan and Bertha Wakefield Morgan.
She attended Brewer High School. She was a faithful member of Morris Chapel Baptist Church until declining health, where she was a member of the Gospel Choir and the HealthCare Ministry. She also was a member of the Women’s Aide Society #55. She was a former employee of Greenwood Mills, Chalmers Plant, NHC of Greenwood and Home Healthcare Aide.
She was preceded in death by her daughters: Brenda and Regina; four siblings: Irene Sanders, Ophelia Hamson, Gilford H. Morgan, Sr., and Emma Royal. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving is her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Robert L. Johnson, of the home; a loving daughter and caregiver, Elaine Johnson, of Greenwood; a goddaughter, Melissa Drennon, of Greenwood; 3 grandsons; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers-in-law; 2 sisters-in-law; and host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will occur from 1-5pm on Monday, December 26, 2022, in the Percival-Tompkins Chapel. Funeral services will occur at noon on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Morris Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Evening Star Cemetery.
